POST INTERVIEW TOP TIPS
You’ve attended the interview, fallen in love with the culture, connected with that potential new leader …. AND YOU REALLY WANT THAT JOB.
We’ve got tips for you, sweet petal. Read on for the goss on how to leave a lasting impression post-interview.
ONE
THANK YOU, LET’S DO THIS AGAIN. If you connected with the interviewer, close off your time with this person by thanking them for their time and verbalising how much you enjoyed the interview. Straight forward? Yes. Done well or frequently? No. ‘Thanks for your time today. I feel so inspired after hearing about your journey and the company itself. I’m really looking forward to hearing from you about the outcome.’
TWO
FOLLOW UP WITH A THANK YOU EMAIL. Believe it or not, this is rare. In-house (and agency) recruiters rarely hear from interviewees after an interview. Be that 1 in 100 and send a thank you email after your interview. It is a special touch that we love to see.
THREE
CONNECT ON LINKEDIN. Don’t be scared! We love to see it! Send your potential new leader a little Linkedin connection with a note. Even if the offer doesn’t come to fruition, you’ve scored yourself a potential new mentor and a connection with the company for future opportunities. Go on, lean in.
FOUR
BE PREPARED. If you’re the right candidate, you know reference checks will be coming. Be prepared with your referees of choice. Give them a heads up that someone will be in contact and coordinate your referee’s best availability to make life easy for your new employer. A small gesture that goes a long way.
So, there you have it. Four little tips that will help you stand out from the rest when it comes to scoring that job.
