NOT BEING INVITED TO THE INTERVIEW STAGE?
Are you applying for roles yet not being invited to interviews? Perhaps you’re applying for the wrong roles, it could be your resume or it could be a reflection of the competitive market.
Firstly, the current market is competitive - far more competitive that 2020/21/22. There is a higher number of applicants applying for roles than the years prior to now and employers are looking to meet with candidates who are a 90% or higher match for the role. If you’re applying for positions that are a promotional move, you’re likely not scoring the interview because there are other candidates who have more skills, qualifications or experience in the area. Consider reassessing the level of role you’re applying for.
Secondly, your resume may not be right. It’s either not a match for the role or it’s not reading well generally and is being missed by hiring managers. Consider a resume consultation with a professional or do your research on career websites (like SEEK Advice or our Culture Club!) to improve the way your resume reads.
Another reason you may not be invited to an interview is because internal candidates may be stronger than the external applicants who are applying for the role. In some circumstances, employers post job-ads to ‘get a feel for the market’ or to ‘see what’s out there’ - meaning they want to explore salary expectations and talent quality but may not actually make the move to hire an external applicant if they have internal talent in mind.
