COMMON INTERVIEW MISTAKES
What are the most common interview mistakes we have seen in our time?
First things first, we want to keep things professional. Talking about yourself too much in a personal manner can be detrimental in a job interview. Yes, we know technically the interview is about you, but you must ensure you're listening to the questions carefully. Remember that a potential employer is assessing your professional skill set, not your personal life. Keep your answers succinct and on topic, whilst allowing your loveable personality to shine through naturally... easy peasy!
When the interviewer asks you about your current role, it's important to avoid speaking negatively about your employer. You don't want to shine a light on any negativity surrounding you in the workplace, or potentially burn any bridges with previous colleagues consider turning negative experiences into learning opportunities that you'll bring with you to your potential new role.
Let's talk about striking the perfect balance when answering a question. You want to provide detailed, yet concise answers that will showcase your knowledge and abilities clearly. Provide too little and you seem unqualified due to lack of information, share too much and you seem unqualified due to an overkill of unnecessary information. Just relax, be concise and allow your experience to shine. You’ve got this.
