CHOOSING YOUR REFEREES

IN REFERENCES WE TRUST.

Choosing the right referees can MAKE or BREAK securing your next big role offer. Follow these simple tips to ensure you're on the right track.

A key part of every job application process is having that glowing reference to get you across the hiring line.  Follow these hot tips to ensure you are choosing the right one for your next application…

You should have 2-3 references prepared ahead of time. Ensure they are relevant and of the right quality to support your application to move with pace.

All references you list should be a former manager. Peers can sometimes be acceptable, however, managers are usually preferred as they will provide the most trusted review.

Ideally, you should ensure you worked with your referee less than 2-3 years ago and that you were in a role in a similar position to the job you've applied for. Anything from over 3 years ago/referencing irrelevant departments won't properly reflect your capabilities.

Lastly, ensure you've given your referee a heads up that someone will be calling - they can be notoriously hard to catch and having had recent communications with this person speaks volumes about you as a candidate.
